Heart of Metuchen – Downtown Main Street

Metuchen’s Downtown area is the hub of the borough and without a doubt attracts not only Metuchen residents but people from surrounding communities or further for its restaurants, cultural arts, jewelry shops, banks, travel agencies, tailors, to name a few.  It offers a business area with a small town atmosphere and elegance. Main Street has been having a renaissance over the years with newer stores and businesses filling the vacancies. As more diverse businesses move in, the greater the draw of visitors and customers.

Expansion – Metuchen District

Work has begun on the creation of the Metuchen District. The Metuchen District and Downtown Main Street form anchor destinations for an even greater expansion of shops, business offices, parking and a community area.  The District will provide a local supermarket and other stores to support the community but also will be mix occupancy buildings for residential, office and stores.

However, expansion is not limited to the Metuchen District. The borough is also experiencing new businesses moving to Central Avenue and Liberty Street Industrial area.

Residential Growth – Housing

Metuchen is categorized as a NJ Transit “Transit Village” with many of the community’s homes located within a mile of the NJ Transit Metuchen train station.  There has been an expansion of townhouses and condominiums and rental properties bringing more and more commuters to Metuchen, residents needing products and services.
