Jill Justin Dance Alliance (JJDA) Ribbon Cutting

Jill Justin and Mayor Vahalla Cut the Ribbon

The Jill Justin Dance Alliance (JJDA) has opened additional studio space at their Tano Mall location to accommodate its growing dance school. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Wednesday, October 7 at 5:30 p.m. Representatives from the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce were joined by the Mayor of Metuchen, Tom Valhalla, along with members of the Borough Council to celebrate the expansion of this business to our community.

“We are thrilled to unveil our brand new 2,580 square-foot studio. Construction began in early summer and was completed at the beginning of September, just in time for the start of our classes,” said owner Jill Justin. JJDA now offers 5,880 square-feet of studio space for dancers in the community. “Our program at the Jill Justin Dance Alliance has been crafted to maximize the potential of every dancer – with the perfect balance of technical training, performance opportunities, encouragement and discipline.  In addition to our professional faculty, master teachers from New York and Los Angeles offer classes at the studio throughout the year. Our goal is to have your child not only achieve, but exceed, what she or he has set for a goal in dance.”

JJDA first opened its doors at Tano Mall, Edison in 2007 to 40 students. By the end of the first season it doubled its student body and had 80 students participate in the studio’s first recital.  JJDA eventually relocated to a 3,300 square-foot space (the former Jack Cooper’s Deli) within Tano Mall. In the spring of 2015, JJDA acquired the former Hallmark Store, completely renovating the space to provide the same studio design style, including large glass viewing windows for parent viewing.  The studio now has four dance rooms to accommodate the many boys and girls in the community interested in dance instruction.

The Jill Justin Dance Alliance (JJDA) offers recreational dance classes for children ages 2.5 and up, aiming to provide a fun, nurturing environment for children and teens of all skill levels.

JJDA is also home to a competitive Company, which has won several national championships.  Dancers from JJDA have gone on to pursue professional dance careers with the Rockettes, NY Jets Flight Crew and national tours of musicals such as Elf and Bullets Over Broadway.  Many students continue to pursue dance in college and several have been awarded generous scholarships based on their dance experience and training.
