Spring Town Wide Garage Sale
The Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce arranges and markets the Annual Town Wide Garage Sale held in the Spring. By holding a Town Wide Garage Sale, we advertise the event in media that is far more reaching than just Metuchen, we compile a map of participants for the shoppers, we provide Balloon markers to be placed by your home and acquire the Boro permits. About a month before the event, we will send out email notifications and flyers alerting you of the registration period, and dates of the sale. Registration forms will be made available at that time at the Metuchen Chamber Office (forms are located both inside and outside our office) and at various locations throughout town such as stores, restaurants, the Metuchen Library and Metuchen Train Station.
Get Your Motor Runnin’ every year on the 1st Wednesday from May through September when the Metuchen Chamber of Commerce hosts Cruise Night. Cars, pickups, and even a John Deere tractor are displayed along Main & New Streets in downtown Metuchen. The event begins at 6 PM and continues until 9 PM. Stroll down the sidewalk and see vintage cars to some of the latest cars, cars in their original state to souped up custom cars. While strolling along grab a bite to eat and drink at one of Metuchen’s great eateries.
Every Wednesday, visitors can vote on their favorite car for one of three People’s Choice awards. Winners are announced that evening. The event planners also reach out for sponsors of the event. All event sponsors will have their names and locations announced throughout each evening of Cruise Night and company name will appear in all ads, newsletter and posters.
Memorial Day Parade
Every year as a memorial to the Metuchen service men and women who sacrificed their lives in our nation’s wars and the many Metuchen men and women currently serving in the armed forces, the Metuchen Chamber hosts a Memorial Day parade commencing downtown Metuchen, proceeding along Main Street to Brunswick Ave. and ending at Edgar School. Following the parade there is a memorial ceremony honoring our service men and women. Hundreds turn out for the parade. The event is possible thanks to many of our volunteers and especially our business sponsors.
The Memorial Day Parade Committee invites all veterans, community groups, scouts and youth groups to be a part of this very special day!
For more information, please visit our Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony page and our sponsors page. Please note that due to construction on Route 27 at Amboy Avenue, the parade route and ceremony will change while construction continues. See our Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony page for parade route and ceremony location.

Many of Metuchen storefronts have sidewalk displays and foods. The event is held on Main & New Streets in downtown Metuchen and is well attended. The Junebug ArtFest is a month-long event held each Friday night in June from 6-10 p.m., and features a wide array of open air exhibits, interactive art events, open mic sessions and live music performances all in the heart of Metuchen. It is a great event, one that enables artists and performers to entertain and show their skills. The event brings artists and performers and visitors from Metuchen area, throughout New Jersey and from neighboring states. Come down and enjoy the evening, the activity and the local eateries.
The ArtFest has grown tremendously over the years; and this years’ event is promising to be the largest yet with several new events. For information about the ArtFest visit the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce website.
Annual Fall Country Fair
Every fall, the Chamber hosts the Metuchen Country Fair held on Main & New Streets in downtown Metuchen. The Fair is planned for Non-profit organizations and Metuchen Chamber members only; member participation is not limited to downtown Main & New Street businesses. If your business is located outside the Fair area, you may reserve space. Each year there is a designated theme. A plaque is awarded to the Chamber member who “contributes the most to the spirit of the Fair” along with individual booth awards. We certainly encourage your participation in adding to the fun and spirit of the day. The Fair is held on Saturday and runs from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Annual Halloween Parade
What is Halloween without Trick or Treat, costumes and a Halloween Parade. Every year in conjunction with the Metuchen Recreation Commission, we hold a Halloween Parade and a Trunk & Treat seasonal event. This is a unique twist to the standard Trick or Treat event for the whole family. Chamber business members will have tables for candy distribution as the costumed participants parade by.
Winter Festival Parade
At that festive time of year when the winter holidays approach, what better way to celebrate but with a good ole fashion parade, Winter Festival Parade; bands, floats, organizations, Fire Department, First Aid Squad, and more marching down the streets of Metuchen greeting the bystanders with the cheers of jubilation.
The parade kicks off at 2:00 pm, weather permitting, at the corner of Brunswick Avenue and Main Street. Participants will travel down Main Street and turn onto New Street to end in the Pearl Street parking lot. Be sure to join us at the Metuchen Senior Center at the conclusion of the parade for a visit with Santa and hot chocolate provided by the Metuchen Recreation Department.
As plans develop for this year’s parade along with the groups, bands and businesses marching, information will be posted on the Chamber’s website; check back for the latest information.
